Driving Licence Requirements
If you want to hire a van from EasiHire, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you in respect of a driving licence and documents.
✅ Documents & items required
- A valid driving licence — your full UK photocard (or paper one + passport if applicable).
- A DVLA check code (or sometimes your National Insurance number) so we can check your driving record.
- Two proofs of address, dated within the last 3 months — e.g. utility bills, bank statements, council tax bills.
- A payment card in your name — We don’t accept cash. Van hire’s can be paid on Credit or Debit Card. Car hire is in Credit Card only. These must be in driver’s name.
- If you are a non-UK resident (or using an international licence) — passport (and international driving permit / translation if needed), and possibly proof of UK address (if staying temporarily), depending on the licence.
🔞 Age, licence history & other conditions
- Typically you need to be over 25 and have held your licence for at least 2 years to hire a van.
- Our insurance will not cover anyone under 25 unless this is pre-approved.
- The upper age limit is set at 75 but again this may be increased at our discretion.
- We will always check for penalty points / offences: minor offences are often acceptable (up to 6 points for SP offences), but certain serious convictions or recent accidents may disqualify you under their insurance terms.
- Your driving licence must be in date and match the proof of address you are going to provide to the rental desk. Failure to do this will mean we cant hire a van or car to yourself.
