Can I leave my car at the Wolverhampton branch?
Due to the size of the yard this may not always be possible. Please contact us the day before your hire so we can advise you on the current parking space. The site has 24-hour CCTV monitoring; however, all vehicles are left at your own risk.
What time can I collect my car or van?
You can collect your vehicle from the Wolverhampton branch anytime between:
- 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday
- 8am to 2pm Saturday
- 9am to 12pm Sunday
Is there a minimum rental period when hiring a car or van?
We offer a minimum rental period of 24hrs. You can take a vehicle for less than 24hrs, but we do not offer hourly rates.
Is there a minimum age requirement when renting a car or van?
Drivers must be over the age of 25 and driving for more than 2 years on a British / European driving licence. For anyone who doesn’t fit this criteria, please contact the branch directly and we will send your details through to our insurance provider (typically this can take 24hrs to get an answer). There is no maximum age requirement.
Are there rules on penalty points that I need to know about before renting a car or van?
All drivers must not have any serious convictions or driving offences. If you have points on your licence for a speeding offence, we can allow up to 6 points. For clarification on points, please contact our Wolverhampton branch.
What documents/ID do I have to bring with me when I hire a car or van?
Drivers must bring a valid photo driving licence, 2 separate proofs of address (dated within 3 months) and a licence check code (dated within 21 days and not previously used). If you’re unsure of how to obtain your check code, bring your national insurance number to the branch and we will do it for you.
Can I hire a car or van if I live outside of the UK?
Yes. EU countries, USA ,Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand licence holders can hire and are not subject to a licence check. For countries not listed, please contact the Wolverhampton branch directly and we will send your details through to our insurance provider (typically this takes 24hrs to get an answer). You must have previous driving experience in the UK.
How long will the check-in process take when hiring a car or van?
For drivers that have not used us before this can take between 10 to 20 minutes from entering the branch to leaving with your vehicle. For drivers that have used us before, the process can be as quick as 5 minutes.
What is your car/van hire fuel policy?
We operate on a like-to-like fuel policy. All vehicles are to be brought back on a similar fuel level to when you collected the vehicle. If the vehicle returns to our Wolverhampton branch low on fuel you will be charged full pump price as well as an admin charge of £30.
What is your car/van hire excess policy?
Our excess options depends on the vehicle you are hiring.
For cars and small vans (up to Transit custom size). Your excess liability is set at £1250 and is to be held on a credit or debit card (for car hire we only accept credit cards). This can be reduced to £250 for an extra £25 per day. Between 4-7 days your excess reduction is charged at £70 per rental.
For larger vehicles Your excess liability is set at £1500 and is to be held on a credit or debit card. This can be reduced to £250 for an extra £25 per day. Between 4-7 days your excess reduction is charged at £70 per rental.
How long does it take to get my excess deposit back?
If you leave your deposit on a credit card this will be returned within 24hrs (subject to your bank’s policy and weekends)
On a debit card this can take between 5-10 working days.

What van is best for moving house?
Our long wheel-based vans (LWB) are perfect for your typical house move. The LWB vans are around 3.2 metres in length and around 1.8 metres high. If you feel like you need a larger van, especially a van that can lift larger/ heavier items, then we can offer you a Luton Tail Lift. Luton’s are a perfect choice if you’re moving household appliances such as an oven or washing machine.
What documentation should I bring when I rent a van?
On the day of your van hire at EasiHire Wolverhampton, please don’t forget to bring with you:
- A valid driving licence
- Valid ID
- 2 x proof of address (such as recent utility bills)
- Credit/ debit card
Can I hire a van with a normal driving licence?
Our vans can be hired on a standard UK driving licence. You must have held the driving licence for at least 2 years and be at least 25 years of age. Please also be sure to inform the EasiHire Wolverhampton team of any recent points you have.
Can I rent a van with a non UK driving licence?
If you need a rent a van from us and only hold a non UK driving licence, please visit our branch at New Manor Service Station, Parkfield Rd, Wolverhampton WV4 6EL or call us on 01902 491 449. We can check how long you’ve held the licence for and the vehicles you’re allowed to drive. We’ll try our best to help you rent a van.
Can I still hire a van if I have points on my driving licence?

Selecting the right size of van
Our fleet of vans vary in size: small vans like the Berlingo, regular vans like a Transit SWB, to a larger van like a Luton. If you underestimate the size of the van you need, you may end up doing more trips to transport all your items. If your items are too heavy to lift, then a Luton van would be a wise choice as the tail lift on the rare will make life a lot easier. Another consideration is your passengers. Some of our vans only have two seats whereas the larger vans have 3 front seats.
Important documents for hiring a van from Wolverhampton
Hiring a van from Wolverhampton is a very straight forward process but there are some important items of documentation/ ID that you’ll need to bring with you on the day of your hire.
- You will ALWAYS need to show us your valid driving licence
- You should bring proof of ID with you such as a recent utility bill
- You should bring a credit/ debit card with you as we DO NOT accept cash payments
You will sign a “rental agreement” at the Wolverhampton branch. The rental agreement also has terms and conditions that you should read, understand them, then sign. How does the van insurance work?

Driving away on your hire van
Before you leave our Wolverhampton branch in the van you should confirm with our rental team:

You should also agree a day and time to return the van. On weekends our business hours at Wolverhampton are much shorter compared to through the week.
Loading the van
We strongly recommend you stack your goods properly in the back of the van. During transportation, things can move around so stacking your items safely is paramount. Straps can be useful to prevent heavy items falling over. We recommend the heaviest items should be at the bottom of the pile. We also recommend you spread the load evenly across the base of the van. Take care not to overload the van.
Driving the van
First time van hirers may be surprised to learn how good the power steering is and how the dashboard is very similar to a car. Your seating position however is much higher than a car, and you’ll notice a lot more wider space inside. You will have to take great care when parking, and going under entrances or bridges due to the greater vehicle height. Many underground or public car parks have a two metre (6’6”) height restriction.
In terms of driving around corners in the van, we recommend you brake gently. Brakes on a van can be sharp as they are designed for a full load. Please also be sure to adjust the wing mirrors and your seat for best comfort and visibility.
Speed limits can vary for vans. Vans over 7.5 tonnes are restricted to 60mph on the motorway. Vans below this weight may drive to the national speed limits. You simply cannot beat checking your routes in advance and allowing yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
