Easter in Wigan

Easter is a busy period in the hire vehicle game and we like to keep the cogs turning.

📅 Easter Half Term Dates (2026)

For Wigan / Greater Manchester area schools, the Easter holidays (which include the spring break / half-term period) in 2026 are typically:

• Friday 3rd April – Friday 17th April 2026 (inclusive) according to the local Wigan school term calendar.

This gives you roughly two weeks to travel or take day trips with a hire car.

During the Easter Holidays one of only two true meanings of the word Derby takes place.

This is fought out between 2 of the greatest rugby league clubs ever the Wigan Warriors and St Helens.

Lord Derby of the Knowsley Estate stated that only two sporting events were granted the word derby in them. The other event being the Derby Horse Race.

The Derby estate went from one end of the East Lancashire Road the A580 in St Helens to the other end in Wigan. Thus creating this rivalry which is still going to this day.
