What Size Van Do I Need To Move House? A Clear Answer From Our Wigan Branch!
“I’m moving- what size van do I actually need?” is a common concern and question when moving. Here’s a helpful guide to get it right first time from our Wigan branch!
Van Size Guide:
Studio or one-bed Flat: a short-wheelbase (SWB) van is usually plenty for a single load if your sensible with your boxes! Perfect for moving students to and from University Accommodation. Our VW Caddy are ideal for moves of this size!
Two-bed house: a medium or long-wheelbase (LWB) van gives you the extra room for sofas and wardrobes! Our VW Transporter MWB or KIA PV5 Electric Van are great options!
Three-bed house or Larger: We recommend a Large van like our Luton’s with a tail-lift. This will minimise and help with heavy furniture lifting and multiple trips!
A top tip: if you are between sizes, it is recommended to size up! Our price difference between sizes will most likely be less than the cost of travel back and forth! If you are still unsure, do not hesitate to enquire with our helpful and friendly staff for clarification and advice!
Reminder: your licence
This is the bit people always forget! Every standard UK car licence allows you to drive up to 3.5 tonnes- which covers you for our self-drive vans for hire. So don’t feel intimidated to size up if needed. Our hiring policy does require our drivers to be between the ages of 25 to 75.
What will it cost?
Our wigan rates start from £69.00/day and every hire includes insurance and 200 miles/day (Insurance requires a holding fee). All we request is you bring the vehicle back to us as we hired it- same fuel and condition.
