Van Hire Agreement with Mileage Allowance
When hiring a van or car, it’s important to understand the mileage allowance included in your rental agreement. Most vehicle hire companies set daily mileage limits to manage vehicle usage and maintenance costs. In this case, the hire agreement outlines a tiered mileage structure based on the number of days the vehicle is rented.
On a 1-day hire, you are allowed to drive up to 150 miles. This is ideal for local journeys, quick deliveries, or short day trips. For a 2-day hire, the mileage limit increases to 300 miles, giving you more flexibility for slightly longer trips or regional travel.
If you hire the van or car for 3 days, the allowance becomes 450 miles, which is useful for multi-stop routes or extended travel. On the 4th day, the mileage cap increases to 500 miles, providing even more scope for travel across greater distances.
For hires of 5 days or more, the mileage allowance is set at a consistent 500 miles total for the period, unless otherwise agreed. This limit encourages responsible use over longer durations while ensuring the vehicle remains in good condition.
It’s important to keep track of your mileage, as exceeding the allowed limit could result in additional charges per mile over the agreed amount. Always check with the hire company about how mileage is calculated and whether extra mileage packages can be purchased in advance if needed.
