Speed Limits in Vans
At Easihire Blackburn we like all our customers to have all the correct information before they hire from us one of the most common question, we get is what are the speed limits on commercial vehicle?
When it comes to driving a commercial vehicle, there are several different speed limits that drivers need to be aware of. These limits can vary depending on several different factors, including the weight and size of the vehicle, the type of road you are driving on, and the location of the road.
In the UK, there are specific speed limits in place for commercial vehicles, which are outlined in the Highway Code. These limits are designed to ensure that commercial vehicles are driven safely and responsibly, while also considering the unique characteristics of these vehicles.
Here are some of the key commercial vehicle speed limits that drivers need to be aware of:
- Motorways
On UK motorways, the maximum speed limit for commercial vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes is 60mph. For commercial vehicles weighing less than 7.5 tonnes, the maximum speed limit is 70mph.
- Dual carriageways
On dual carriageways, the maximum speed limit for commercial vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes is 50mph. For commercial vehicles weighing less than 7.5 tonnes, the maximum speed limit is 60mph.
- Single carriageways
On single carriageways, the maximum speed limit for commercial vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes is 40mph. For commercial vehicles weighing less than 7.5 tonnes, the maximum speed limit is 50mph.
It’s important to note that these are maximum speed limits, and drivers should always adjust their speed based on the conditions of the road they are driving on. For example, if the road is wet or icy, drivers should slow down to ensure they are able to stop safely if necessary.
In addition to these speed limits, it’s also important for commercial vehicle drivers to be aware of any local speed limits or restrictions that may be in place. This could include lower speed limits in built-up areas, or restrictions on certain roads or bridges.
At Easihire blackburn, we always encourage our customers to take the time to familiarize themselves with the speed limits and road regulations that apply to their vehicle. By doing so, they can ensure that they are driving safely and responsibly and avoiding any unnecessary fines or penalties.
