What Every Hire Car Driver Should Check Before Driving Away- Preston

When driving away in one of our hire cars at Preston, it is normal to feel unfamiliar at first! Its a new layout and potentially unfamiliar roads- so take your time. Here at Preston we’ve organised a list to help you before you set off on your journey!

Walk around the car and take photos

Our staff will do this with you! But we encourage you to familiarise yourself with the car and feel comfortable with it. Check the bodywork, mirrors, windows, wheels and lights. This will double check any pre-existing damage has been recorded in a vehicle handover. Check the Fuel Level and Milage to keep track of your travel! We require the cars being returned with the same Fuel amount as left so its important to keep track off.

If you do spot anything your unsure of, please mention it to the team before leaving, they will be happy to help. Starting the journey in this way allows you to feel more comfortable and confident in your hire car.

Familiarise yourself with the cars layout

Don’t feel the need to rush off after collection! Familiarise yourself with the cars layout and buttons you may need in your journey. Its better to know where they are, before you need them. Locate the headlights, window wipers, front and rear demisters, indicators, hazard lights, parking breaks and the air conditioning! With our range of Electric, Hybrid, Automatic and Manual cars each one may be a little different- so don’t hesitate to ask our staff if you are unsure of where something may be!

Adjust the Seating and Mirrors

Once again before setting off, please adjust your seat to a comfortable height and distance for you. Moving seats within a car can be unique to each vehicle, so it is better to save yourself the discomfort and ask while collecting if you are unsure. Once this is complete, take your time to adjust the internal and external mirrors. This is crucial to ensuring you have the proper views you need to drive safely!

Check the Boot Space

Whether your going on a family road trip, collecting an item or replacing a broken down car- it’s important to check it will have the space you need! If you need a specific amount of space when hiring a car with us, please enquire when making a booking with us. Our helpful staff will be able to advice which vehicle may be best- or if a small van could potentially be a better option.

Check your Routes

Before preparing your journey, please check for any disruptions! Road closures and accidents can happen, being aware can save you time and stress when travelling. If you are travelling a long distance, we encourage drivers to take breaks and rest when tired. This keeps you and others safer on the road.

Wanting to extend you hire?

We can allow hire extensions, depending on availability and circumstances. Our team understands car repairs can get delayed, travel delays or you’re simply having to much fun on a road trip! We just ask that you inform our staff as soon as you would like a extension on your hire. This allows our team and yourself to prepare if we can extend you booking, or discuss hiring another vehicle. We cannot guarantee extensions on car hires.

Prepare your Documents

At Easihire Preston we require seeing your physical drivers licence, which you must’ve held for a minimum of 2 years. To hire a car with us you must be over 25 years old.

Proof of address. We require two proofs of your current home address to confirm your identity. This can include utility bills, bank statement and council tax letters. If you have a document showcasing your address and you are unsure if we accept it, please contact us to find out. These must be within the past three months.

A valid Credit Card. The card must be in the main driver’s name, and is used for the payment and security deposit. We place a temporary holding fee which is returned once the vehicle is returned in good condition and according to the rental agreement.
